Competitiveness effectively achieved through culture spurred from top management

Seven Companies receive certificates from MARii’s COGMP, top companies recorded an between 45-91% reduction in customer quality complaints.

The top management of seven automotive companies successfully have continuously underwent the CEO/Owner Growth Mindset Programme (COGMP), a business enhancement programme designed by the Malaysia Automotive, Robotics and IoT Institute (MARii) to transform the mind-set of CEOs and business owners towards achieving world-class levels of competitiveness and sustainability.

COGMP, initiated in 2017, functions to inculcate growth-based mindset in businesses, spurred from within top management levels through the development of effective goal alignment and communication methodologies from the top management throughout all working levels.

Since its initiation, top participating companies have recorded a reduction between 45 and 91 percent in customer complaints.

“As leaders of our own organisations, we often find ourselves challenged by time and cost to clearly define and align our goals throughout the organisation. The COGMP is designed to instil a collective growth mindset from the top levels, which can directly influence the culture, performance and operations of a company”, said Dato’ Madani Sahari, CEO MARii at the COGMP sharing session and certification presentation held at MARii headquarters in Cyberjaya, today.

“For a long time, we have heard numerous discussions about the gaps within our Malaysian workforce. The COGMP takes an opposite worldview - it educates our business leaders to focus and harness the strength of the workforce we have developed, through internal alignment and talent enhancement from within”, he added

The COGMP also serves as a trigger for top and senior management to develop company-wide mindsets towards the adoption of Industry 4.0 technologies and services, and is designed to enable cross-industrial implementations and practices, collectively expanding the manufacturing ecosystem of Malaysia.

The programme is stretched across three phases – Company Culture & Direction, Process Optimisation, and Companywide Teamwork for Survival – with each phase having their own specific modules, focusing on important elements of leadership, business continuity, and technology adoption in efforts to enhance the growth of the automotive industry, companies, and SMEs.

Various business operations aspects are covered such as production planning, safety, and cost management, while emphasising the importance of a good workplace culture by practicing the usage of clear and effective communication channels such as graphs and clear definition of the various roles and responsibilities of talent within a company.

Asyraf Abdul Rahman, Managing Director of Autokeen Sdn. Bhd. explained that the COGMP has resulted in a transformation that lead to company wide commitment towards customer satisfaction, while balancing the personal career goals of individual talent.

“Between 2018 and 2019, Autokeen recorded a 25% reduction in overall safety incidents within the company. Since 2020, there have been zero major safety incidents in our company, which is a clear indication of mindset change among our employees when leaders lead by example”, he said during the sharing session.

The event was also attended by Tan Sri Asmat Kamaludin, Chairman of Perusahaan Otomobil Kedua Sdn. Bhd. (Perodua), Datuk Zainal Abidin Ahmad, President and CEO of Perodua, and Dato’ Madani Sahari, CEO MARii.
