The Malaysia Automotive, Robotics and IoT Institute (MARii) and Emerald Auto Parts Sdn. Bhd. (Emerald) inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on a strategic collaboration for the Braking System Expert Program, today in MITI, Kuala Lumpur.
This MoU aims to enhance knowledge sharing within the automotive aftermarket sector regarding technical expertise on braking systems, in efforts to enhance the Malaysian automotive aftermarket businesses, including workshop owners, spare part dealers and vehicle dealers.
The signing ceremony was witnessed by Deputy Minister of International Trade and Industry, YB Dr. Ong Kian Ming.
“Embracing the Industry 4.0, we are pleased that MARii and Emerald with the support of world respected braking system leader Brembo, are collaborating to share updated knowledge and technology mainly in braking system aspects”, said YB Dr. Ong.
The MoU also signifies the endorsement of the Braking System Expert Program by MARii, to be included in an array of aftermarket programs organised by the government agency such as Industry-led Professional Certificate Skim Latihan Dual Nasional (IPC SLDN) and Industry-led Professional Certificate Pengiktirafan Pencapaian Terdahulu (IPC PPT).
This collaboration also aims to enhance the awareness and safety amongst road users through MARii’s SafeCar program, a vehicle safety campaign through talks and public displays that will be organised with Emerald in future events featuring braking technology.
“The Braking System Expert program will add a new dimension to enhance their business operations and expertise within the aftermarket community, especially in the key safety aspect of braking”, said Azhar Taib, Deputy CEO of MARii during the event.
“The subject of braking should not be taken for granted, as it is the key component in an on-road emergency, saving lives when a driver least expects”, he emphasised.
The continuous advancement of automotive technology has led to more sophisticated and complex vehicle builds, requiring attention and updated knowledge of crucial parts and component maintenance and repair.
Emerald is the exclusive Malaysian distributor of Brembo, a world-renowned manufacturer of automotive brake systems, which also specialises in research and development (R&D) and training programs in the areas of braking systems.
“MARii, the think tank of the Malaysian automotive industry is the perfect partner for us as we are aligned in sharing expert knowledge towards enhancing the automotive community and Malaysian drivers. MARii’s support is vital in the growth of Emerald Auto Parts in the coming future.”, said Ms Hong Lee Ching, Managing Director of Emerald Auto Parts Sdn. Bhd.
The Braking System Expert Program enables participants to keep up to date with the innovations in the field therefore, allowing the aftermarket community to enhance operations and transfer knowledge gained from the program to consumers.
“With our 40-years of braking system industry experience and the support from Brembo, this program will exchange important know-how, technology and training modules in braking systems to participants while spreading awareness on the importance of safety products to the public. Through this program, the knowledge would be passed down from dealers to mechanics then to all road-users, improving the local automotive scene as a whole.”, said Ms. Sharon Wee, Director of Emerald Auto Parts Sdn.
