Perodua’s first ever 7-seater SUV, Perodua Aruz was launched today, held at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC), Kuala Lumpur in a launch ceremony that was officiated by Yang Berhormat Datuk Darell Leiking, Minister, Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI), witnessed by Tan Sri Asmat Kamaludin, Perodua Chairman and His Excellency Dr. Makio Miyagawa, the Japanese Ambassador to Malaysia.
In line with the National Automotive Policy (NAP) to further enhance the value of the country’s automotive industry, Perodua uses 95 percent of local components in the production of the Aruz SUV.
The use of local products promises a good return to the country and Perodua remains a strong user of local components amongst other brands.
Since the car was open to orders on 3rd January 2019, the Aruz has already received a total of 2,200 bookings.
“As a People’s First company, Perodua has always been about making advanced technology and the latest trends in the automotive world accessible to as many Malaysians as possible,” said Dato’ Zainal Abidin Ahmad, President and CEO of Perodua.
The car features Perodua’s very own safety technology, the improved version of the Advanced Safety Assist (ASA) dubbed ASA 2.0, the first version made available in the Myvi 1.5 Advance (AV) variant.
Other than front departure alert and pedal misoperation control which remains unchanged from the previous version of the ASA, the ASA 2.0 boasts improved operational range including a pedestrian detection system and will only be featured in the 1.5 Advance variant.
Full details of ASA 2.0 can be read by clicking here.
Dato’ Zainal added, “With the Perodua Aruz, many more Malaysians can now enjoy the benefits of an SUV, plus advanced features typically found only in pricier vehicles. This makes it among the best-value SUV’s on sale today, with space, safety and efficiency elevated.”
Aruz is powered by a 1.5L Dual VVT-i engine and a 4-speed transmission, giving the Aruz an Energy Efficient Vehicle (EEV) certification with the Eco Idle function that automatically turns off the engine when the car is idle.
Standard specifications for the Aruz includes LED headlamps with follow-me-home function, 17-inch two-tone alloy rims, second-row air-con vents, keyless entry and push start ignition button. The Myvi-style built-in Touch n Go reader makes a comeback including a touch-screen head unit with reverse camera.
Alongside the ASA 2.0 for the 1.5 AV, other standard safety features include six airbags, VSC, Hill Start Assist and Isofix child seat mounts, resulting in an ASEAN NCAP five-star rating.
The Aruz marks the national carmaker’s fourth EEV certified vehicle with a class-leading fuel economy of 15.6km/l.
Perodua Aruz comes in two variants – 1.5 X and 1.5 Advance (AV) priced affordably at RM72,200 and RM77,200, respectively.
