The Automotive Industry

The Future

Connected Mobility

Malaysians must be empowered through the spurring of high impact technology sectors, giving them opportunities and space to procure and develop career and entrepreneurship paths at a global playing field.

Such opportunities have been created through the automotive industry. Since the National Automotive Policy 2014 was announced four years ago, Malaysia’s path towards global competitiveness has become ever more clearer, seen in the numerous industry achievements.

Today, more than 50 percent of new vehicles sold in Malaysia are Energy Efficient Vehicles (EEVs). Vehicles have become more competitively priced, with more safety features protecting Malaysians on the road. Employment in the automotive sector has grown tremendously, while exports of automotive parts and components have increased year on year since the NAP2014 was announced.

While the achievements have been astounding, they are only the foundations of developing an economy of global standards. Our appetite as a nation to be a leader in the global digital economy continuously grows, and it is time for Malaysia to take the next step.

This next step will transform Malaysia into a leader for Connected Mobility. This industry will span across all government functions, industry and business sectors and remodel human capital needs towards meeting the aspirations of Malaysians as journey towards the future.

Connected mobility will transform the lifestyle of Malaysians of all walks of life. It will integrate your daily routines into our transportation, and open up new possibilities and frontiers to make our work and play more productive, comfortable and purposeful in a way we have never thought of.

Imagine Malaysia as the leader in invention and innovation of products and services based on connected mobility – an industry that brings to the world new technology and products such as connected cars, smart cities, intelligent shared transportation, smart manufacturing, telematics, and artificial intelligence.

MARii recently concluded a study that forecasts mass market automotive technology consumptions between 2020 and 2050. The study serves as an industry reference to align technology needs, particularly in automotive design, manufacturing and after sales towards the expected market needs in the next three decades.

The report was presented by MARii CEO, Dato’ Madani Sahari at the Megascience 3.0 National Forum, on the 16th of November 2016. Watch the full presentation here!
